Travel throughout the Island of Margarita is very easy by taxi or public transport. It will take you to a wide variety of beaches (there are over 50 on the Island) among them Playa Parguito (good for surfing), Playa El Agua (a popular beach three-kilometres long), and Playa El Yaque (a windsurfing hotspot). Among the many natural sites are the Restinga, a mangrove lagoon, and four other natural reserves where bird watching, guided tours, snorkeling, and other activities are available. There are beaches ideal for children and a large amusement park and a golf course.
Boat trips can be taken to nearby islands for diving, fishing, and sightseeing.
A taxi trip of 20 minutes will take you to the airport where you have easy access to inexpensive flights to major Venezuelan cities and tourist areas. Margarita is less than an hour by air from Caracas.
Margarita is an ideal year-round destination. The climate on the island is warm and dry with temperatures stable year-round between 34- to 37-degrees Celsius (high eighties to nineties in Fahrenheit). Some rains may fall between August and October. The water temperature varies from 23- to 30-degrees Celsius (73 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit).
